Mass awareness programme for
women on “Fresh Water”
A one day mass awareness programme for women on “Fresh
Water” to create resource pool of women for conducting
further mass awareness programs on water related issues
as organized on 12th December 2003. Volunteers from All
India Women’s conference attended the training programme.
The programme was inaugurated by Director, CSMRS and was
covered by Doordarshan. The trainees were provided with
the training kit which includes the following materials.
In addition, a water testing kit developed by CSMRS to assess
few important parameters such as Color, Odour, pH, Total
Hardness, Chloride, Fluoride and Iron for its portability
has been distributed to volunteers. The volunteers use this
test kit wiil during their mass drinking water limits prescribed
in Bureau of India Standard.
The programme was divided in to three stations.
In the forenoon, the trainees were given facts and figures
about the availability of water in the world and India,
its uses and methods of conserving it. Mrs. R. Chitra, Senior
Research Officer delivered a lecture in this connection
titled “Fresh Water- A Global and Indian Scenario”.
Mr. S. C. Mathur, Assistant Research Officer delivered a
lecture titled “Water Conservation- To make water
everybody’s concern”.
